Training - ASP Tactical Handcuff
Tactical use of restraints may be a fundamental part of the execution of your duties. In order to reduce liability to bail agents, surety agents, police departments, and private security significant training is required. This course will certify each successful participant in the use of restraints by an industry leader, recognized around the world for it's training and products. ASP has long been one of the most innovative manufacturers of tactical restraints.
This course is taught by ASP certified instructors, to give you the credibility that you need to use these devices.
This course is conducted using the ASP curriculum, and MUST follow the ASP guidelines for the course.
Course length is 8-9 hours.
DO NOT BRING:
- Firearms or Ammunition
- OC Spray
- Knives of any type
- Batons
- Any other weapon, even though not listed
- An EMPTY duty belt is permitted THE INSTRUCTOR WILL PAT DOWN EACH STUDENT.
You will need to bring:
- At least one set of handcuffs. Two is optimal (1 chain set, 1 hinged set or 1 rigid set)
- Eye protection rated z-71 or z-87 (Check the lens or frame for z-71 or z-87, we have loaners)
- Training handcuffs, if you have them.
- Carrying case/pouch for your handcuffs
- Handcuff key

- Use of force in making an arrest
- Control options
- Stabilization
- Application of restraints
- Front cuffing techniques
- Back cuffing techniques
- Stacked hands
- Verbalization
- Preparation to transport
This course DOES qualify for 4 hours of CEU training required by Missouri Department of Professional Registration.
